“Force Touch sensor to be used on the iPhone will not directly detect the pressure applied by the fingers. But it shall monitor the contact area on which the finger touches the screen to determine how big the pressure is.” Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple Analyst.

This statement is bound to draw the attention of Apple aficionados the world over. Especially those, who have been waiting with bated breath for the next generation of iPhone, iPhone7.

Earlier rumored to be released as iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus, this new technology implementation to their latest smartphone will earn it the right of a brand new phone all together. Hence, this September, instead of iPhone 6S and 6S Plus, we can expect Apple to launch iPhone 7 itself.

Dynamic Touch response

 Force-Touch-Trackpad-breakdown  Source: cdn2.macworld.co.uk

As per what Kuo had to say about this latest advancement in touch response, the mechanism touch mechanism grows a little more complex from the developers perspective. The design information that is available to us as of now, indicates that the latest touch sensor would be placed under the in-cell touch panel backlight, in order to compensate for space, while at the same time allowing for more transparent LCD attribute.

The touch response would now be able to detect and distinguish between light taps and heavy taps, by calculating the contact area of the screen, instead of detecting the physical pressure of the finger.

This is a good news for many users, as they would not have to be brutal to their otherwise fragile mobile LCD and this latest innovation could actually lead to more longevity of the product.

Force Touch on MacBook and Apple Watch

The upcoming MacBook and Apple Watch will also see a Force Touch version, imbibed in its track-pad. The Watch would include the feature as a “click” that is managed as a virtual integration instead of physical.

The track-pad will have 4 force sensors along its glass surface which will be powered through a Taptic Engine, that generates fast and accurate user response. A general illustration to clarify this point further is the usability of Quicktime Player. With the Force Touch feature in place, a single light tap would result in changing the track; whereas a deeper touch would result in Fast-forwarding the track in itself.

“The new trackpad features built-in force sensors that allow you to click anywhere and haptic feedback that provides a responsive and uniform feel. You can even customize the feel of the trackpad by changing the amount of pressure needed to register each click. The Force Touch trackpad also enables a new gesture called Force Click, a click followed by a deeper press, for tasks like pulling up the definition of a word, quickly seeing a map or glancing at a preview of a file.” Apple

With around 18 Billion dollars in Net Profit, in the first fiscal quarter of Apple, after their phenomenal success regarding the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, the amercian Tech giants are pouring it all into their upcoming gadgets.  The success of the iPhone 6 generation was so powerful, that Apple has reportedly decided to do away with their iPhone 6S series and jump directly to iPhone 7 with the revolutionary feature.

Could this be the the final part of the puzzle that perfects Apple’s Touch Response system? Only time will tell. But with the look of it, they are definitely heading in the right direction.

Every year brings about new trends in the field of mobile technology and advancement. Sometimes the evolution is merely cosmetic and at other times, its more of an overhaul.

2015 promises to be a year full of tren-shifts, especially in the app spectrum. In this article, I’ve taken a close look at some of the major shifts that we can expect. Whether the changes would be a game changer, remains to be seen.

Mobile-App-Developer-1

1.Winds of Change in the Developer Frontier

Change is crucial, especially when it comes to the technology domain. But just because there is constant change and progress doesn’t necessarily ensure that people would welcome that change. So it has always been a ball-game when it comes to the development section of mobile and app technologies.

Many Developers can afford and even like taking risks while implementing a game changing design or UI/UX changes whereas many are of the opinion to stick to the tried and tested roads. Although none of the roads are ideologically incorrect, but it has been often noted, that the risk-takers and innovative creators, have managed to reap in more rewards as compared to the orthodox practitioners.

A noteworthy illustration of the point I’m trying to make is the recent launch of Apple’s Swift language app for iOS platform. As per a recent survey, almost 1 in 5 people are already using Swift language.

2. Need for a Stable State-of-the-Art Tool

Although the mobile technology sphere has expanded and evolved over time, but there is still a major void that has been noted. This void is of a tool or an application that supports analytics, reporting and testing features dedicated to particular platforms.

As of now, more than 80%, people use third party softwares, individual or as a combination of all these features. The need for dedicated platform monitoring and reporting tools are on a rise and probably start rolling out soon.

3.E commerce Developers For the Win!

Lets say, you’re playing your favourite game on your favourite Smartphone. Then suddenly you realize you are out of life and you need to pay real money to purchase more lives, or be stuck in tandem. What do you do?

Now, you are using your favourite shopping store app. that is showing you a wide variety of goodies that you are looking to buy or just passing by them until something catches your eye and your subsequent will to buy. What do you do?

Its simple. Most of the casual or consumer centric apps don’t generate a lot in revenue as compared to commerce and business apps. In the same fashion, business tycoons believe in spending on more channels of marketing and sales in order to attract customers.

Therefore, the developers working on business apps tend to receive a larger revenue than that compared to a consumer app developer.

There are quite a few other factors, that are experiencing a shift such as Internet of Things. But they are not as imminent as of now, and still have quite some time, to roll out.

Today, in this competitive world, as technology is changing, the trend in which mobile devices will emerge in the future will also soon change. The next level of major changes is predicted to appear around 2018-2020 when there will be a significant shift in size, shape and futuristic application of mobile devices.

Mobile technology is entering a new phase regarding wearable. The future is towards engaging customer in terms of products and services in different manner. With the help of facts, it got engaged with brands which provide services such as subscribed services.

For e.g., the mobile will help you to perform trivial tasks related to your personal life. The trend is moving towards usage of credit card as it is used in retail chain to neighbouring store to do shopping from daily store.

The current application in mobile supports the GPS services and will become much better manner which would help to track the person location.

These days, there is a big threat regarding the process through which mobile applications will support the real-time enterprise data such as banking data as the money involved could have a high-risk factor. Hence, high level of protection is required.

The mobile application are expected to move towards the area where person can view the heart rate and blood pressure related problems. If the medical services can be included in future in mobile application then sure a shot it would definitely affect the risk of life involved. If the application supports the medical services which help to ease out stress to perform the daily activities in normal manner.

The mobile application is used to easily book flights with the usage of application instead of sending user to airport or access website or access the agent for website booking.

Video has always been a preferred medium of content exchange. Users have always been prone to watch videos despite its duration as opposed to reading info-graphics or textual content.

With more and more mobile apps. In the free-ware category on the rise, digital marketers and brands are often trying to use video advertisements to test the waters for a couple of years now. Irrespective of success or failure they have managed to accumulate so far, 2015 is surely the year when mobile apps and video ads are sure to spike.

Video Ad Engagement

As the free-ware and in-App purchase featured titles dominate the App space in terms of Stores and rewards, sponsored content or trademark digi-currency have become highly popular. This type of in-App ads are becoming popular to the extent that it has been found to be a sure shot approach to engage users.

Out of these, Video Advertisements have a tendency to engage more audience and thereby ensuring a must win for both parties.

Video Ads have proven their success, as the user finds it much more easier to sit back and watch a video rather than having to take time and conscious effort to read a textual peace.

Apps Trailers and Teasers

To engage audiences, developers have started featuring short trailers of upcoming or newly released games. These trailers act as a part of pop up ads that we often encounter while playing freeware content.

This has proven to be more successful in generating clicks amongst users than any other type of ads or banners combined. Another reason that makes this kind of ads generate more revenue is the fact that trailers and teasers of softwares or games have a brief gameplay or user interface showcase that tells the user if they like that stuff or not.

Hence, Trustablity increases and eventually more clicks get generated.

4G LTE On The Rise

4G LTE networks are being deployed all across the globe at a rapid pace. This simply means more speed to the user. More speed, converts to more power when a user gets to download and stream videos at a faster speed. Lesser time for streaming also means that the user has time to surf through more videos in a short duration thereby increasing the hit rate of other video Ads in general as well.

Effective Targeting of Video

Mobile video ad platforms have more features for developers and at the same time are offering improved elegance – which results in better monetization and conversation rates. It’s easier than ever to target your video ads to relevant users who may actually be interested in the content. There are also certain innovative techniques that allow the publishers to ensure that the users view the ads a particular number of time times. This is then measured accurately through various analytic tools so that the developers have a better comprehension of their designated target base.

Conclusion

Other than the ease of video, another prominent reason that makes video a popular medium for advertisements or generating more user engagement and trust is because, people tend to trust what they see before believing. A textual ad banner could often promise endless things but the reality might be really different.

But in a video ad, the features shown in use tend to give out a better impression and therefore generates trust factor and eventually revenue.

One prediction made by most SEO analysts is that mobile applications are going to take the world by storm. Companies and brands these days are investing in development of mobile applications as they are proving to be quiet popular amongst the next generation Android users. Almost all the brands that we see have their own mobile applications. Mobile technology has enabled businesses to widen their audience. If we look at it from a non business point of view, it is a service, in my opinion, to be fast, easy to use and easy on the pocket as well.

With a little browsing from your mobile phone, you can now literally purchase anything, be it goods or services, from the Internet sitting at your home or office or anywhere else. Also, Staying in contact has never been easier. Recent times have shown us increasing popularity in Social platform applications such as Facebook Messenger, BBM etc.

I have listed out a select few, out of the vast variety that I have encountered, which I feel are going to be really popular in 2015.

 1. Outlook – This is a wonderful application that I find to be pretty useful. Where usually I would just check my mail on my mobile phone, and leave the rest of the work where attachments are involved for my computer(whenever I reached it!), I can now manage my mail on the go. The advanced application helps me organize my email, calender dates, contacts and files from my smart phone. I don’t have to wait to get to my computer. This is a free application and quiet honestly, it’s a good deal. It surfaces my important messages from various platforms in one place, and is quiet simple to use as well.

1img

2. Whatsapp – Another messaging service that has shown promise and is set to build up even more in 2015 is Whatsapp. It’s a cross platform social messaging application which enables one to send and receive messages, images, videos, voice memos etc. by using the same Internet connection which you use for your mail and browsing. It is free for use in the first year, after which you have to pay a nominal fee of $0.99 per year, which I find is pretty reasonable considering all that I can do to stay connected withthe people I know.

wats3. Amazon Mp3 – Yet another wonderful application my Amazon, this application enables you to download and listen to your favorite music from the Internet. There are over 20 million songs to choose from, both free and paid. You can purchase the latest albums by your favorite artists from your mobile, and listen to it whilst offline. This application allows you to play music stored on your phone, stream music directly from the cloud, or simply purchase or download the song so that you do not have to stream again and again.

amazon

4. Kindle – This is an application that avid readers like myself will simply love. You can download the application for free using the web and start downloading your favorite eBooks. What’s more is that you can even search and explore new eBooks by using a free preview feature. This feature allows you to download the first chapter of any eBook and help you decide if you want to continue reading it or not. This application also enables you to continue reading your eBook from any device, just by using a login Id and password.

kind

5. Netflix – This application is simply, wow! Often I have to travel long distances and this application is the reason I endure. Users can browse through thousands of movies available on Netflix, and can stream and watch while on the go. Many movies are available for free as well, but to access popular movies one has to have a subscription. This is generally some $8 a month. I find it to be worth it, considering the fact that most of the block busters are available right here on my mobile.

There are a lot many other equally brilliant applications out there which are amazing to use, but these are my personal favorites which I think are going to be extremely popular this year.

Mobile application development has enriched the use of handheld communications devices for most of today’s consumers. Mobile smartphones are an accepted application for most merchants and service providers today. Finding the most appropriate and, also, profitable presentation for products and services will include marketing that is attractive to this newer audience and buyer.

There are several state-of-the-art services that are offered by consultants in the mobile communications industry. Older applications that were popular for charter-style mobile communication devices may need to be enhanced or reprogrammed in order to be usable by more modern versions of the same smartphone, for example. A strategic mobility consultant can help to connect a business across several types of marketing platforms.

Mobile application development uses comprehensive solutions that are cost effective. This type of experienced computer application programmer can help to create apps that help with specific mobile customer applications. A simple process can include the important requirements that each client’s business has.

Mobile application porting is always critical, since a customer’s product information needs to reach the correct audience. A mobile audience needs a marketing port that can be used with an iOS operating system in an iphone, for example. Most operating systems have their own methods of connecting with a user, and each operating system has a particular method of adding on applications, for example. An Android operating system is distinctive from a Blackberry operating system. Your strategic mobility consultant can assist with separate and distinct programming requirements across numerous styles of operation.

Mobile application testing is a cutting-edge service that is often needed today. This form of analysis will take a business mobile marketing plan and test its viability across the audience that the company is trying to reach. Mobile buyers can be quick sales, if the product or service offered to them is available with a mobile phone application. The mobile displays need to be easily completed by a mobile customer, since most of today’s mobile buyer is on the go. The display information needs to be appropriate for a mobile device. This means that the information will need to be created with simpler user buttons, and the information needs to read from top to bottom, for example.

Check out information for a mobile buyer needs to be quick and easy to complete. The buyer’s credit card information will need to be typed into an easy to read shopping cart. This personal check out information requires its own well-displayed security pledges, in order for a mobile customer to feel comfortable with an online order. Telephone call in services can be added, along with the company’s well-encrypted shopping cart. Application development needs to include these requirements, since mobile platforms are necessary for today’s faster lifestyle.

Most newer smartphone applications are easily added on to a customer’s own mobile device. An application that is offered to the public will need to be as versatile as possible, since not all mobile units have the same operating systems or methods of adding on a check out feature. These important advances help to make sales of products and services faster and easier. A strategic mobility consultant can aid in enriching a company’s ability to reach their important new buyers. Certain requirements are needed that include enhanced online security. Most handheld devices will need unique screen displays.

Applications to the layman is all about the games they get to play or the applications they get to use as a end product. What remains in the shadows are the back-end servers and platforms that host and enable the apps to run and function in a way they should.

Back-end processes are like the black sheep; ignored and unnoticed till the time something goes wrong in them and as a result the app, software or game malfunctions. Only then do people start acknowledging the importance of back-end infrastructure.

What it eventually boils down to is the fact that back-end infrastructure is the backbone of the development and the end product. If the back-end setup fails or malfunctions then the end result wouldn’t run and as a result the development company suffers.

This means every e-commerce, retail, software and digital companies providing apps for their services and product are heavily reliant on the back end infrastructure and without proper care and maintenance, these companies can often end up paying huge amounts of penalties and refunds to their invigorated customers who pile up in queues once the app. malfunctions.

Upgrade and Maintenance

Mobile Apps. function through repetitive pinging the servers for information and updates. Combine this process with that of millions of users using the app. resulting in traffic overload that can lead to server overload and app. crash. The mobile back-end infrastructure face relatively more spikes as compared to that of PCs and Laptops.

Therefore, it is important to understand the intricacies involved with handling and maintaing back-end structures in a way so as to balance the capacity for which it is set up.

Agility

Today, there is heavy competition in the market, and every app developer and their competitors are in a rush to deliver apps and softwares so as to acquire greater market share. This is done through a lot of automation process that involves testing, rectifying errors, staging and providing fixes if the app has already been released. All this is to be achieved without compromising on quality.

This process is known as Agile Delivery. Balancing and managing apps and their development to post sale service process needs to be automated and controlled in such a way so as to reduce errors and prevent any major failures on the back end servers later on that could possibly damage the company’s reputation for the long haul.

Analysis

These days, mobile apps are usually hosted on API-based RESTful/JSON Web service architectures. The drawback to this infrastructure set up is that due to mobiles pinging to and from the servers, many of the data can’t be tracked that gets lost or intervened in between and hence, it is not possible to rectify errors in the issue of problems quickly.

The entire process of identifying which API failed to ping or receive or intervene data due to which the app failed becomes a cumbersome process and thus takes more time to rectify.

Hence it is important for the development team to analyze the entire process that goes into delivering the final product to the customer. Analysis also helps you to identify problems before users encounter them. With every app connecting more and more devices, APIs and Platforms, it’s best to get acquainted with analytic tools much sooner than later.

Conclusion

I think it is suffice to say that the mobile user experience is dependent as much on the back-end infrastructure, if not more, as the front-end mobile app. user interface. I am of the opinion and often recommend that it is essential for the development team to prioritize the streamline process. the agility, delivery process and monitor all of your apps’ moving parts of the back-end so the front end user experience can be flawless.

Android 5.0 Lollipop updates have barely started rolling in worldwide and incomes the firs set of troubles for the software. The initial problems that have been reported so far are:
Application not running on a device
Crashing.
Certain applications make the system unstable and laggy.
Now although these issues don’t seem to have a fix as of yet, not atleast from the user side, there are however a few helpful fixes out there for some other issues that have been reportedly encountered. Here are 3 major issues and their fixes so that you don’t literally throw your phone away while the developers rectify the other issues.

1) Wi-Fi Trouble
with the latest Android 5.0 update, Lollipop has caused certain Wi-Fi issues to many users. Some users have suffered unstable internet connections, some can’t get online access at all.

Now there are few ways that seem to have fixed these troubles for most. The are:
a) Long-press of the Wi-Fi network locater button till they find a source and connects automatically if the password has already been fed in.
b) Restarting your Phone.
c) Restoring to Factory Settings.
d) for those who have the option, changing the Wi-Fi channel in Advanced Settings seem to have solved the connectivity issues.

2) Battery Discharge
Google OS based phones seem to be the worst hit in the list of technical difficulties after the Lollipop roll-out. Battery issues are more common than any other, and have been recurring for most users.
The fixes that have been found to be useful for curing the battery life are:
a) Reset the Phone to factory settings.
b) Doing a fresh install of the update.
c) Identifying and uninstalling obsolete apps. that are not compatible with Lollipop
d) Making full use of the Power Usage settings and ensuring no app. is running that drains huge battery life.

3) Video Playback deficiency

A funny issue has been also reported several times wherein Lollipop starts lagging and seems to lose track of its applications and extensions especially related to the video playback. It is unable to figure out and assign the designated video player.

The fix for the same are:
a) Clearing of cache files from the Settings tab.

b) Enabling/Disabling Nu Player from the Developer Options page.

c) Doing a Factory Reset helps clear the temp. files and has been reported to help in video playback.

d) Not running too many apps. at the same time despite optimum configurations as Lollipop has issues related to lagging and crashes.

Other than these fixes you can always try to post your issues on the official website and developer forums for assistance. But, then again, the response time will most often than not, vary as the issues are being reported worldwide and there is only so much a developer can take in at single point of time.
