eBay introduces new mobile experience for its Apple, Android and Windows users

E-commerce giant eBay has refurbished the mobile shopping experience for its users, and has rolled out new updates for its mobile web and native apps on April 24, 2014. As per a report by Tech Crunch, eBay has rolled out new mobile apps for iPhone, Android and Windows devices, which will soon be followed by mobile web and iPad applications. The latest development is aimed at improving the overall user experience for eBay users across the globe, who’d love to indulge in an intuitive and seamless mobile shopping.

The new eBay mobile applications flaunt a completely revamped look-and-feel and comes replete with several new features, such as personalized feeds, bigger product pictures and better descriptions. Further, there is one exciting addition that would remind one of iPad’s in-store pickup feature that was designed for local shopping. As expected, the native applications are compatible with the latest iOS 7, Android KitKat and Windows 8 mobile operating systems.

The eBay mobile app version 3.3 for iOS is aimed at better performance, faster browsing and better streamlined mobile shopping experience. The product pictures appear bigger on the iPhone, and the new update has definitely provisioned easy buying and selling options. The defining feature of the new app is its personalized ‘Feed’ on the home page that has items of your liking. Further, the look-and-feel seems a lot like Pinterest, particularly the design of pinboards. The feed can be customized by selecting things of your interest and the latest shopping trends.

The iPad version has an interesting in-store pickup option that has been designed to accommodate interests of buyers for local shopping. The idea is to purchase items from eBay’s affiliate sellers, then let the buyer collect the item from the store itself and thereby allowing him/her to save money on shipping. Further, the feature has been clubbed with Passbook for offering simple access to things, such as store address, directions and order number.

The new eBay Android application has five active notifications and is compatible with tablets of both 7 and 10 inch screen sizes. Further, the iOS refinements are reflected on the Android version as well, while the active notifications are meant for – bid/buy, option of charity donation at checkout with Giving Works. Just like iPhone, Android devices will receive the improved search and personalized feed features.

eBay’s Windows & Mobile Web apps

eBay’s Windows 8 mobile app update gets a new home screen and personalized feeds, daily deals, etc., just like iOS and Android OS. All features are basically the same and it seems that the app developers were overly inspired with Pinterest. eBay has improved the mobile website experience that now displays Best Offers, Daily Deals, and few more lists by category. The home page of mobile website has been revamped as well.
